How to Mute a Zoom Meeting When Using the Presentation Translator

When you add the Presentation Translator, audience members should mute the Zoom meeting so they only hear the live translation audio.

We recommend sending these instructions in both the meeting invite/email and in the Zoom chat at the start of the session.

Steps for the Audience

1. Join the Zoom meeting as usual.
2. Open the translation link (shared in the chat).
3. Select your preferred language and press Play.
4. In Zoom, click the arrow next to the microphone icon in the bottom control bar.
5. Select Leave Computer Audio.

Important Note

• Choosing Leave Computer Audio will:
• • Automatically mute the Zoom meeting audio.
  • Disconnect your microphone so others in the Zoom meeting cannot hear you.

👉 After doing this, you’ll only hear the translation feed, without overlapping audio from Zoom.
